U-Drive Valley of Thor

Þórsmörk valley is a very special place and the rugged nature of this valley offers a unique composition of glaciers, low woodland and mighty glacial rivers that we will cross in the modified 4x4 vehicle to reach our destination. On the way to Þórsmörk we will visit the picturesque waterfall Seljalandsfoss and pass the Gígjökull glacier lagoon before turning back at the spectacular gorge Stakkholtsgjá, where we will have packed lunch. As we emerge from the vast glacier valley we will drive east to the frozen glacier tongue of Sólheimajökull. There we will explore the glacier on foot and view the amazing crevasse riddled crawling glacier!

We will provide crampons for you and all the necessary glacier gear. As we walk on the ancient ice and observe the spectacular surroundings your guide will explain this complicated phenomena and the changes all glaciers in Iceland are going through. On the way back to Reykjavik we will make a brief stop at the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall.

On this trip the incentive group gets to see and do what most of the population will only dream about and very few ever try.
