Golden Circle sightseeing in a driver-guided super jeep + activity
Difficulty level: 2 out of 5 / easy
We take our course east from Reykjavík and head to Þingvellir National Park. Here you will see for yourself one of only two tectonic rift valleys in the worlds, created as the continental plates slowly drift. Þingvellir is also the only UNESCO‘s cultural world-heritage site in Iceland. From there we take the trail behind the picturesque shield volcano Skjaldbreid and along our second biggest glacier, the Langjökull glacier. After about a two hours’ drive on mountain trails and some river crossings we get back to normal roads again just above Gullfoss waterfall. We will make a short stop to take a look at the spectacular waterfall before driving to the Geysir hot springs which are only 10 km down the road. At Geysir we will see a variety of geothermal pools and erupting hot springs, surely one of the highlights of any visit to Iceland. Your activity will take place at some point during this adventurous day.
Golden Circle Safari with River Rafting (River Fun):
River rafting on Hvítá river which is a beautiful river running through an amazing canyon, with fun rapids and a great optional cliff jump and glacier river swimming. Afterwards the showers and sauna are at hand.
Golden Circle Safari with Caving (Underworld):
Explore the hidden world under a lava field! On our way through the Gjábakkahellir lava tube you will see the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past. This is a trip that everyone can undertake and enjoy.
Golden Circle Safari with Snorkeling (Into the Blue):
The crystal clear water in the deep Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park gives you a feeling of being weightless and flying as you glide along the narrow crack with the lazy current. The rugged underwater view of the lava field is something you will have to see to believe!
U-Drive Golden Circle with Snowmobiling (Glacier Ride):
A scenic and fun one hour tour on Langjökull glacier, Iceland’s second biggest glacier. The glacier is covered with several enormous ice filled volcanic craters, rimmed in by imposing volcanoes and set in the breath-taking Icelandic interior - giving you a quite staggering view.
